Doctor Ran 22 Miles Wearing Mask To Prove They Don’t Restrict Oxygen

COVID-19 times demand big doses of pragmatism and vigilance to salvage nimble lives. The process of building the epitome of safety starts with face masks. They go a big way in erecting the shield against the baleful virus floating around the souls. However, their efficacy has come under the banner of questions. To exonerate them from the black views, a doctor named Tom Lawton has put up an experiment.

Tom has worked day and night to provide medical aid to the toiling souls. He has been a close witness to the agonies that the pandemic inflicted on the world. The struggle to save lives has kept him up throughout the period. He has also seen the face masks aiding their efforts and pushing the spread of the virus to the bay to a great extent.

Thus, he advises face masks without any doubt hovering in his mind. However, in the last few days, he saw the allegations overshadowing the trust in masks.

Rumors started to build around that the masks blocked the oxygen supply and thus impacted the body functioning.

Rankled up to see the spread of the misinformation at the lightening speed, he stood up dumping the false claims. The doctor put on his jogging shoes and went ahead to run from his home to work and back, covering 22 miles wearing a mask. He held a SATS meter to check the oxygen levels in his body during his run. He carried on the run without a break for food and water to test the might of the masks.

Not just that, the doctor did not put his entire precious day for the experiment. He also met his professional obligations at his workplace.

To his delight, his faith in masks shone brightly at the end with the oxygen level standing high at 98% with him wearing the mask. According to him, he had used oxygen enough “for about 10 calm people”.

He never did the intense activity wearing the mask before. But he rested his faith in his “medical and physiology training”.

Taking on that, he shared, “I’ve done this because, working on ICU and in the hospital, I’ve seen some of the worst of what this virus can do – even to people in their 20s and 30s. I don’t think there’s a single magic bullet that will fix this but a whole series of things we can do which play a small part each”.

Adding to that, he shared, “One of those, and one of the easiest, is probably wearing masks. So it upsets me to see misinformation about oxygen levels etc that might scare people away from them”.

Well, his run was full of stars and monetary shine. He managed to garner £1,600 for Trussell Trust (an organization helping to feed people in the U.K.)

Requesting people to ditch the rumors, the doctor from Bradford Royal Infirmary tweeted, “Please feel free to cite this when anyone suggests they’re bad for you, and stay safe – and COVID-free”. Adding to that, he shared, “If I can run 16-21 miles masked, you can probably make it round the shops”.
