This Superwoman Reveals Her Personal Reason To Become Indigenous Midwife
Claire was taking a class in Women’s studies. This was part of the curriculum in the undergraduate program pursued by her. While doing the same, she became curious about a midwife and somehow wanted to become one.
The further she proceeded with her academics, her interest in the women health care increased and she eventually wanted to partner and play an active role in the health. For achieving this, she found midwifery as the best profession to be practiced.
The reason for Claire to opt for midwifery was more than her interest in it. Being indigenous, she was aware of all the health problems faced by indigenous women.
Moreover, she believed that indigenous women need to have access to Indigenous midwife and Aboriginal identity is something that cannot be duplicated or taught.
From a report by National Collaboration for Aboriginal Health, it’s found that the health indicators show a high burden of diseases in Aboriginal Canadians as compared to non-Aboriginal Canadians. Not only this, the women are devoid of all the basic facilities that they deserve. In order to maintain their proper health conditions, she wants to serve them being a midwife.
She holds a number of responsibilities and leads the National Aboriginal Council of Midwives. In the council, she works on several projects to expand the indigenous midwifery and educating the people regarding the same.
Not only this, she supports access to the educational opportunities that are culturally safe and plays an important role as an Aboriginal student coordinator at Ryerson Midwifery Education Program.
The fact is that the Indigenous people in Ontario share poor health conditions, and as a result of this, the women have poor health conditions and are prone to more diseases and health issues. So, being concerned about their proper health is necessary and would lead to their proper health balance. Claire, after recognizing this, is working for the same in order to serve the indigenous people as a midwife.
So with the aim to make a health care system that meets their needs by using a proper system, Claire is working for making the system that is easily accessible for the indigenous people, and further motivating them to become midwives and work in order to serve humanity.
We know that improvement is a continuous process and involves comprehensive changes and simulation. This is something highlighted and portrayed by Claire, and she is working in this aspect for the better health care system. It will play an important role in maintaining proper health conditions for women in different stages of pregnancy and other health issues linked with them. Everyone lives, but living for others is a stupendous art towards mankind.
