Stop Running And Find Your Way Home

Brain Food April, 25, 2024

The future you see is based on where you’ve been and your will to not reach square one. This becomes evident when you try to sit quietly in a room and mentally evaluate your entire life. Sadly, many of the people fail to understand the real reason behind everything they do or want from their lives. This is because of their inability to sit quietly in a room with themselves, as pointed correctly by Blaise Pascal.

The simple exercise of sitting with yourself reveals how the present version of you has a reflection of your past. You would realize that all your dreams and life choices are not yours but a result of other people’s expectations from you. Also, you may notice that you don’t have a concise plan about what you want from your life. And the reason you’ve been pushing yourself so hard is that you want to meet the standards set by the people around you.

Life’s an unknown journey. It’s okay to sometimes lose direction. But problems begin when you refuse to learn from your mistakes. This denial to face the ghouls of your past does no good to anyone. Therefore, you would have two choices, either to use these bricks thrown by life to build your castle or to trip and fall over them. Of course, the former is tough, but discovering yourself isn’t a piece of pie. It requires you to un-layer yourself to fabricate a better version.

To discover the real you, the first step would be to listen to the voice coming from your soul despite the noises created by others around you. The voice maybe a cry, a desire, a need or a complaint but you need to listen. A stable career or a relationship may make you feel like you’ve reconciled with your past but that feeling won’t last long. To befriend your past, you need to stop running from it and start finding your way home.

They say home is where the heart feels soothed. But they forgot to mention that home is also a place for introspection. It’s where you remove your social makeup and embrace your raw self- with freckles and flaws. Home’s your wholesome zone, and no matter how far you may be, it’s where you need to be by the end of the day. For this to happen, the unauthentic you must die, so that the real you takes’ birth.

This process feels demanding initially but it gives you much more in return. It gives you a blank page to rewrite your story from scratch and rebuild yourself on your terms. Some of these maybe out of tolerance initially. But when you finally reach that point, the view’s going to be beautiful, just like the dawn. That’d be the moment when you’ll be who you are meant to be. That’d be when you can say, you’ve healed from your past and that’s what we call peace.
