An Old Woman At The Hospital Was Surprised By This Iron Worker’s Kind Act And The Exchange Of Messages Is Beautiful

There are dull moments in everyone’s life and what brings light in those dark times is just one little act of kindness. Gloria Porter, 88, from Connellsville, Pennsylvania was suffering from Pneumonia and was stuck in the hospital room since the last 7 days. It had not been an easy recovery for her and the fact that she had to stay in that room 24×7 was even more depressing for her.

The only view Gloria had outside the window was of trees shedding leaves due to the cold weather in which the whole city was engulfed. How monotonous this can get, just give it a thought!

The sun rose on one particular day to break this humdrum routine that Gloria was living through. She woke up to some sound of metal ringing. The sound was followed by a glinting orange light. Gloria could not help but leave her bed and look outside the window.

It was Gloria’s wish to have something in her life that was exciting and made her forget all the hard things that were surrounding her. We think it was time her wish was granted!

She stared outside her window and spotted the ironworkers doing their job that involved refurbishing the entrance of the hospital and it appeared a little risky to Gloria as they were quite high up on the building framework.

Gloria was entirely lost in the whole process and wondering how those ironworkers were constructing such enormous structures. A few seconds later, a worker named Jeff Reick noticed her lost in thought and Gloria saw him too. He waved at her from the distance and his wave was enough to make Gloria’s day.

It was really sweet when Jeff noticed Gloria taking a good look at the work that ironworkers were doing. He looked at her and went back in time as he remembered his grandmother. Jeff was slightly concerned when he saw Gloria at the same place all alone with sad eyes the next day as well.

We know his concern is already sweet enough, but the next thing he did was pretty amazing and reflects his kind nature! He decided to wish her well and the way he did that was extremely sweet. He found a piece of chalk in his toolbox and on a horizontal metal bar, he wrote: “GET WELL”. Can this get any better? We don’t think so but it did!

This kind gesture by Jeff warmed Gloria’s heart and she knew that she had to do something for Jeff as well that gives him a message of how kind he is. Gloria asked a nurse to help her in this. Gloria kept a large white sheet with “STAY SAFE” written on it in front of the window. Jeff was touched by this gesture and could not control his emotions. Those two words were really comforting and soothing to read for all the ironworkers.

Jeff posted this entire thing on Facebook and this led to a movement that everyone wanted – Do random acts of kindness!

Amidst all this, a woman ordered pizzas for the ironworkers and her kind act was well-appreciated by all. We hope this trend of spreading kindness never ends and we get to live in a world where only love and kindness exists!
